I am excited to be working with the gifted and talented students here at Lyons Elementary. I graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, NC and started my teaching career there. Over the next 20 years I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. As you can see moving around has been a way of life for me and has given me the chance to work with so many interesting people in many different places. I even spent two years serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines as a teacher trainer for Filipino teachers. Along the way I found I have a passion for working with gifted and talented students and helping them see challenges and risk taking as ways to grow and learn. I moved to Lyons, CO from Austin, Texas and enjoy volunteering for many community projects as well as taking advantage of colorful Colorado. You can find me hiking and skiing with my husband Mark. I also enjoy cooking, gardening, and playing my upright bass in local jams.
