The Annual LES Holiday Food Drive has arrived!
Did you know?
15% of Lyons residents are living in poverty
1 in 8 Coloradans struggle with hunger
Food insecurity exists in 17.2 million households in America, 3.9 million of them with children.
39% said they must choose between paying for a meal or paying rent.
For years, the Annual Holiday Food Drive at LES has been supporting families throughout the greater Lyons Community during the holiday season in partnership with Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund and Higher Grounds Ministries International. The needs continue to increase. LEAF’s Food Pantry typically supports 35-40 households every week in the Greater Lyons area.
We ask that you please bring in non-perishable (non-expired) food items beginning Monday, December 2nd and continuing through Friday, December 13th.
This year’s goal is to bring in 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food items as well as raise $500 to purchase perishable food items such as ham, turkey, bread rolls and produce.
Here is a shopping list of items you can include in this paper bag for donation:
☐ canned soups and vegetables (no green beans/no tomato soup please!)
☐ canned beans or chili
☐ fruit cups, pudding cups and/or applesauce
☐ canned fish and meats (tuna, salmon, chicken)
☐ snacks (granola bars, goldfish, beef jerky, nuts, crackers)
