Summer Reading Program at the Lyons Regional Library

Lyons Elementary will be partnering again this summer with the Lyons Regional Library on a Summer Reading Program for students Kindergarten through 12th grade.  Copies of the reading logs are coming home in Thursday folders and will also be available on our website as well as at the Library.  There are lots of prizes you can win!  Check out this video of McCourt Thomas, Childrens Librarian, introducing all the fun things you can do this summer:

5th grade Legacy Project

5th Grade Legacy Project...

2016-17 5th graders have chosen Dan Monhollen as the artist for a Legacy Project for LES, this year.  Mr. Monhollen is an amazing wood carver who has designed a beautiful piece of work for LES.  

Congressman Jared Polis Speaks with 4th graders

Congressman Jared Polis visisted Lyons Elementary School recently, presenting to 4th grade students and checking out his photo taken during the "Shine" project following the flood.  The Congressman was so impressed with our students, he decided it should be an annual event!

Josh the Baby Otter - River Safety at LES

On May 8, 2016, two brothers Paul Foreman, 10 and Daniel Foreman, 7, drowned near their home in Pinewood Springs.  In an effort to save lives, the family of these boys along with the Lyons Lions Club are bringing "Josh the Baby Otter" books by Blake Collingsworth to LES students.  Students will be treated to a visit from "Josh the baby otter" and will read the book in their classrooms and with buddies on May 8th.  Books will be coming home with students.  

New Students Arriving at LES.....

Chicks and butterflies! Shine and Fluffy are the first two little chicks to make their way into Kindergarten classrooms with more peck, peck, pecking their way out every day.  Meanwhile in First Grade classrooms, butterflies are emerging ready to take flight!  

AIR Darol Anger Performs for LES Students...

The next installment of our AIR Program for this year, Darol Anger, performed on April 24th.  Darol Anger, fiddler, treated the students with music and improv for LES students.
