Math in Art
The Artist in Residence committee was a little unsure when Mr. Moore wanted Math to be the center of this year's program activities but they put their heads together and have come up with an amazing line up. Kicking off the program and providing the backbone for classroom activities is CU professor, Beth Stade. Beth and 2 of her grad students wow'ed the kids with patterns, numbers, concepts and fun at the recent Kick Off Assembly. She will be presenting different concepts to all grade levels throughout the next school year, as well as an informational night for Parents. Check out some of Beth's presentation here: MATH in ART >>
Following up, the Japan in Schools organization with Junko Goodwin, presented origami at lunch time for 1st-5th grades with a special presentation for just 5th. In January, 3rd grade will experience Flamenco Dancing, February will bring patterns in 1st grade, in March, 4th grade will learn to code and paint with SPHERO, 2nd grade will learn architecture and Kindergarten will be Rocking with Math as the school year continues.
Stay tuned and feel free to come experience the fun!
