Kindergarten: How do we use our 5 senses to think like a Scientist?
Kindergarten is a great time for students to explore their world. We strike a balance between open ended exploration tasks and teacher directed exploration. This helps provide them with time to ‘play’ in the natural world and also to start to develop an understanding of the structures of science.
Each month, students went to Johnson Park to explore their 5 senses by investigating trees, the river, temperature, living things, and the effects of the sun on warmth and shadows.
Over the course of the school year, Kinder students will continue to move through exploration of the 5 senses and impact that the sun has on life! Students will also generate a timeline associating the sun with the change of seasons!
