Positive Behavior Interventions and Support – LYE students will tell you…. the 4 B’s. Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe……..and an addition for this year BE KIND.
Our PBIS week was a success! This week, 5th graders trained our Kindergarten-4th grade students on the 4B behavior expectations for the lunchroom, hallways, bathrooms, and playground. Each day, 5th graders were paired with groups of younger students to deliver a fun and engaging presentation on how we behave here at Lyons Elementary.
This year, we’re excited to introduce a new leadership opportunity for all 5th graders that will extend throughout the school year called “Lyons Leaders”. There is no need to sign up – all 5th graders are Lyons Leaders! Throughout the year, 5th graders will continue to assist their assigned groups of younger students leading by example and offering support for small conflicts that may arise. Lyons Leaders will provide short-term, mentoring support as needed during the school day, helping to build strong, supportive connections and fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership. This initiative will not only benefit the younger students, but it will also help 5th graders develop valuable leadership skills and a greater sense of responsibility and community.
