Under the direction of our AMAZING Art Teacher, Elena Russ, and funded by the LYE PTO the Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students have been learning about and designing our very own mural!

After instructing students about murals and how to design and construct a mural, students then spent time collaborating and designing what they thought the Lyons Elementary School mural should look like. Ideas for the design follow our school wide STEM focus and grade level Science Standards. Mrs. Russ then took all these ideas and compiled them into one beautiful design.

Student have been spending time this week painting the design onto the boards which will eventually will be mounted on the cement wall below the ramp, across from outside classroom doors.

The 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will add tho the mural later in the spring. While the younger students focus is on plants and nature the older students will focus on the river and life therein.

We look forward to having this project hung and celebrate it’s reveal!
