Happy Thursday, Mountain Lions!
It looks like warmer weather is around the corner, which is great news! Thank you to everyone for sending your kiddos to school prepared for the cold these past couple of weeks. This preparation has allowed us to get outside as much as possible while keeping kids’ safety at the forefront of our minds.
Our BINGO Raffle Baskets are assembled, and raffle tickets are being purchased! Please join us on Friday night, March 7 for our PTO Sponsored BINGO Night! We’ll have sandwiches from the market, loads of BINGO, face painting and our Cake Walk. So fun – see you there!
Recent Celebrations
We’ve noticed an increase in driver safety during afternoon pickup. Thank you all so much for maintaining high levels of awareness as you pull in and out of our drive line. The intersection at 4th and High Street continues to be a high point of activity after school, so abiding by the stop signs is critical!
Our annual Artist in Residence project is well underway! Mrs. Russ is working with our Preschool – 2nd grade students this month and next to generate a mural focusing on life cycles. Students are in the initial planning phase of the project, sketching their ideas and narrowing their focus. Next month, they will be painting and assembling our panels! 3rd – 5th grade students will begin their part of the mural in April after CMAS testing. The final piece will be mounted on the cement retaining wall on the north side of the building (behind 5th grade classrooms).
BOND CONSTRUCTION
We are thrilled to announce that our first Construction Planning Meeting is around the corner at 3 PM on March 5th. We are recruiting parents to join the committee that will finalize planning for a major remodel. We’ve got big plans to create, and a tight timeline to do it. If you are interested in helping us, we really need the help, so please reach out by emailing me directly to gain more information or join our team ([email protected])!
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration to make Lyons Elementary School a great place for all our students!
Warm regards,
Principal Moore
