Greetings, Mountain Lyons!
I hope you’re all looking forward to a well-deserved Spring Break! I encourage you to take some time to connect with your kids and enjoy an activity you all love.
We’re also excited to kick off our Spring Reading Challenge! Students can log their reading minutes on paper or use SORA or MYON to track their progress. Those who reach 200 minutes or more will be recognized with a special activity—led by me! Please encourage your child to join in on the fun and keep reading over the break.
Safety Update
On Tuesday, our school entered a “Secure” status due to an unsafe event in town. While we regularly practice this protocol during drills, it’s rare that we need to use it in a real situation. During this time, students were brought inside, and all exterior doors were locked. Inside the building, it remained business as usual, with a focus on keeping everyone calm and informed.
We’re incredibly proud of our students and staff for handling the situation with confidence and composure. A special thanks to Officer Rosie for his presence and clear communication throughout the event. We also appreciate our families for your patience and support.
To ensure students feel safe and heard, Ms. Colleen, our Campus Supervisor, and I have been visiting classrooms to debrief the event and answer questions. If you or your child have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Recent Celebrations
BINGO Night was a BLAST! A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers and PTO for their leadership and support. We’re also incredibly grateful to our business partners who contributed to the event’s success. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a night of fun!
PTO Board & Beyond!
We’re beginning to build our PTO Board for next school year, and we need your help! The generosity of our community directly supports incredible student experiences, and that happens because of dedicated volunteers.
Beyond filling PTO Board positions, we’re also looking for event chairs to help lead next year’s activities. We have a fantastic support team in place, but we urgently need additional parents to step into leadership roles. If you’re curious or interested, please reach out to Liz Schnabolk, our fearless PTO leader.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement with Lyons Elementary—we have SO many fun events just around the corner, and we can’t wait to share them with you!
Wishing you all a wonderful Spring Break!
