Greetings Mountain Lyons!

It’s been a really fun week here at LES! We’re excited to welcome our Kindergarten students tomorrow morning on the upper playground, and on Monday, our Preschoolers will join us—I can’t wait to have everyone in the building!

We’ve focused this week on building community, and we’ve been thrilled to welcome 20 new 1st–5th grade students. They’ve been amazing! To our new families: please remember, we encourage you to reach out early and often—we love hearing about your experience and are here to support you.

We’ve attached our Family Handbook to today’s email. It’s packed with valuable information on academic programming, how we support student behavior and school culture, volunteer expectations, and more. One important update:

This year, Smart Watches will be treated the same as cell phones. Students will be asked to keep them in their backpacks during the school day.

We completely understand that families sometimes need to communicate with their child during the day. If you need to send a message or connect urgently, please don’t hesitate to call the office and we’ll help. You can find the full policy on page 13 of the Family Handbook.

We’ve had a strong response to our Room Parent sign-ups—thank you! We’re still looking for volunteers to support our STEM Lab programming, especially in areas like:
🪴 Gardening
🐝 Beekeeping
🐟 Trout tanks
🌱 Hydroponics
🖨 3D Printing

If you have experience or interest in any of these areas, click here to sign up. We’d love your help!

Thanks again for entrusting us with your children. We’re proud of the work we do and excited to partner with you this year toward our student and school-wide goals.

Wishing you a great end to your week—and I hope to hear from you soon!

Yours in education,

Principal Moore
