On Monday, August 25th, our 5th grade students took the lead in guiding our school for PBIS Day. This important day is an annual event where students learn and practice the 4B’s – Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe, and Be Kind – along with the behavior expectations that help everyone be successful at school.

The 5th grade class was divided into 10 groups, with each group paired with a Kindergarten-4th grade classroom they will support throughout the year as part of our Lyons Leaders program. On PBIS Day, the 5th graders shared short presentations they had created with their group, reviewed expectations for the lunchroom, hallways, bathrooms, and playground, and answered questions to help younger students better understand what positive behavior looks like in each area of our school.

Throughout the school year, these 5th graders will continue serving as Lyons Leaders. In their paired classrooms, they will model positive behavior, help with small conflicts or worries, and offer short-term mentoring when needed.

The Lyons Leaders program is a valuable opportunity for our 5th graders. It allows them to take on responsibility, grow as leaders, and make a positive difference in our school, while also surrounding younger students with support and peer role models who encourage them to do their very best.
