Greetings Mountain Lyons!
Hello Mountain Lyons,
I hope you are all doing well! I’m writing with a few important updates as we head into the next couple of weeks.
Rock and Roll Jogathon!
Next Friday, our annual Jogathon is taking place, and this year’s theme is Rock and Roll! This is our primary fundraiser of the year, and the funds raised by our amazing community help the PTO support our learning and school programming throughout the entire year.
All families are invited to join in the fun! At 11:50 a.m., we’ll have a school-wide picnic, which is a great chance to come together.
A few important dates for the Jogathon:
- Pledge envelopes are due back to the school by 3:30 pm, Friday, October 3
- Online donations will be accepted through 11:59 pm, Sunday, October 5
Coffee with the Principal
I’m excited to invite all parents to a Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, October 1, from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Our first topic will be Safety and Security.
We’ll be joined by our Campus Supervisor, Ms. Colleen, and St. Vrain’s Executive Director of Safety and Security, Richard Peebles. We’ll discuss our approach to creating and maintaining strong safety policies and consistent procedures at Lyons Elementary and across the district.
If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP>> so we can have a headcount. We also welcome you to submit any specific questions you have about this topic when you RSVP. We’ll provide the coffee!
Safety Updates
Speaking of safety, I want to share that we had a successful fire drill yesterday. Everyone did an excellent job, and I was able to visit each classroom afterward to reinforce expectations and celebrate our teamwork. Our emphasis is always to ensure all of our students feel calm and secure during any drill or event.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our fall parent-teacher conferences are just around the corner. Our goal is 100% participation, and we believe these meetings are a great way to collaborate with you. The conferences are an opportunity for us to share insights into your child’s academic progress and goals, as well as the ways we are supporting them in the classroom. It’s also a chance for you to share your thoughts and goals for your child’s success. Look for your student specific sign up email coming from CONFERENCENIGHT today.
Please note the dates for our fall conferences: September 30, October 2, and October 8.
As always, if you need to connect about your child’s experience at any other time, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Yours in education,
Principal Moore
It’s GO time for fundraising with just two weeks until Jogathon! Jogathon is coming up NEXT Friday! A few notes to help us rock this fundraiser:
Everyone is invited to join us to cheer on their students when they run! (You can see the class running schedule here.) And then return at 11:50 for an all-school picnic!
This year we have Mike’s Biscuits and Poppy’s Coffee trucks coming to fuel up our parents, too! They are donating a percentage of their profits back to the Jogathon. Please consider coming early to grab breakfast and a coffee! (And plan ahead for parking, as they will be using up some of the school’s front parking spots.)
There’s still time to fundraise, you can sign your student up for online fundraising at lyons.pledgestar.com. Fundraising envelopes are due back to the school by Friday, 10/3 at 3pm, and online fundraising closes on Sunday, 10/5 at midnight.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THIS IMPORTANT FUNDRAISER AND FUN DAY FOR OUR SCHOOL!
