Principal Update 11/7/2024
Greetings Mountain Lyons,
Staffing Update
It is with both gratitude and sadness that I share that Kim Boxrud’s time at LES is coming to an end. After an incredible 16 years as our Kindergarten Paraprofessional, we will truly miss her!
Kim has been a cornerstone of our Kindergarten Team, bringing consistent kindness, care, and dedication to every student she’s worked with. Her warm spirit and generosity—whether through her brilliant birthday crowns or her constant willingness to lend a hand—have touched us all. Beyond her invaluable work in kindergarten, Kim has been a quiet but steadfast presence in our preschool, stepping in whenever we were short-handed, and supporting our PTO with after-school care during meetings. Her contributions have reached into so many corners of our school community, and her absence will be felt by all.
In true form, Kim has requested that we not organize a formal farewell gathering. Her last day will be Friday, November 15. Our Kindergartners will be celebrating her in class, and we are encouraging our school community to connect with her personally to show their appreciation.
School News
Next Tuesday our 4/5th graders are heading to Ameritowne! Ameritowne is one of our favorite learning experiences each year. Tied to our social studies and financial literacy standards, our students have been preparing to lead all major aspects of a small town, from goods and services to safety and government. It’s a blast!
Also next week, we’ll be releasing Trimester 1 report cards through Infinite Campus. We review student progress through our standards, share them for your review, and incorporate them into our overall understanding of each student’s academic experience at Lyons Elementary School.
Finally, on Friday at 8:30AM, we’ll be hosting a small scale music performance for all of our K-5th grade students. This will serve as a mid-year opportunity to practice some performance pieces through singing and marimba. It will also provide students with an early opportunity to practice performance etiquette and stage and riser transitions. All are welcome to attend!
OK all, have a great rest of the week, and please reach out if you have any questions!
Yours in education,
Principal Moore
