June 12 2025

Greetings Mountain Lyons!
I hope you’re soaking up a beautiful Colorado June! The wildflowers, full rivers, and muddy shoes are some of the best signs that summer is in full swing. I hope you’re finding time to get outside, breathe deep, and enjoy it all.
As we ease into these summer days, I wanted to pass along a few updates to help you prepare for the school year ahead. All August dates are listed in the body of our announcements and in our website calendar.
New Families – Welcome!
We’re so glad you’re here. Your child—and your whole family—will quickly become a meaningful part of our school community. We encourage you to jump in early: say hello at drop-off and pick-up, meet other families, and join us for the many events and gatherings hosted by our incredible PTO.
Summer Updates:
- PTO Updates:
- Our PTO is in the early stages of planning this year’s Jogathon fundraiser, and the team is already putting together an exciting plan for a fun and successful event!
- We’re also launching a new Room Parent program this year. Beginning in August, we’ll be looking for volunteers to help support our teachers and PTO. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in your child’s classroom in meaningful and helpful ways—stay tuned!
- Staffing Updates:
- We’re thrilled to welcome Becky Conley back to our team! Becky served as a preschool paraeducator with us for many years before taking a year away to be with her family. She’ll rejoin our preschool team this August.
- We’re also excited to announce that Kate Zalzal, who has led our Math Lab for the past three years, will be stepping into a new role as our 1st grade teacher! Her classroom will be a wonderful place for students and families to grow and learn together.
- We will be hiring (August):
- Math Lab position. This role supports students in small group settings across grades K–5, four days a week.
- Robotics Coaches: Our 3-5th grade Robotics team has a quick start to the year (early September). We are looking for another coach or two to join our team.
- Trout Tank Volunteers: We could use your help after drop off in the morning! If you are interested in working with students to maintain our habitat, please contact Mrs. Wegert ([email protected]).
Teacher Assignments
I know many of you are eager to learn which homeroom teacher your child will have this year! Teacher assignments were developed in May, but we continue to rebalance class lists over the summer as enrollment shifts. Information will be available through Infinite Campus in early August. We’ll send an email with the exact release date as we get closer.
Celebrating Successes
As we reflect upon the 2024-2025 school year, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible growth and success of our students. Looking at nationally normed iReady data, our students made more academic progress in reading and math than any other elementary school in the district—a reflection of our personalized approach to learning, the dedication of our staff, the support of our parents and PTO, and the energy our students bring each day. Alongside these academic gains, our STEM program continues to shine. Through hands-on experiences in environmental leadership, design thinking, data literacy, and computer science, our students are learning to tackle real-world challenges and make a meaningful difference in their community.
We are so proud of all we accomplished this year and look forward to partnering with you in the 2025-2026 school year.
As always, please reach out with any questions, ideas, concerns, or ambitions. We are a community-based school and we grow together.
Have a great summer!
Principal Moore
