Principal Update 12/19/2024
Dear Lyons Elementary Families,
As we approach the holiday break, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Our school is thriving, and it is because of the incredible commitment and involvement from families like yours. Your support plays a vital role in our school’s success and the nurturing community we have built together.
A special thank you to our PTO for their unwavering dedication and countless hours of volunteer work. Your efforts truly make a difference, reminding us that it takes a village to raise a child. There are so many upcoming events, which will be dependent upon volunteer support, so please get involved – we’d love to have you!

Thanksgiving Reading Challenge Success
We are thrilled to share that our Thanksgiving Reading Challenge was a huge success! Over 40 students participated, and we celebrated their achievements with hot cocoa and candy canes. It was a festive occasion that highlighted the joy of reading and the dedication of our students.
Looking ahead, we are excited for the Winter Reading Challenge where students are encouraged to read more than 400 minutes. Let’s keep the momentum going and celebrate even more reading milestones!
Upcoming Events
25th Anniversary Discovery Fair
January: we are excited to announce the upcoming Discovery Fair, celebrating its 25th anniversary. This year, we invite all students and families to join us for a special film fest, showcasing creativity and exploration.
This event promises to be a memorable experience, and we encourage everyone to participate and contribute to this community celebration. Stay tuned for more details!
BOND Construction: Design Advisory Board
January: we are gearing up for a massive Bond project. Thank you voters! We are actively recruiting volunteers to join our Design Group. The group will meet regularly throughout the winter and spring. The purpose of the group is to work with our architectural and contracting team to provide critical input to our process. We will be designing a new entry way, a new STEM lab, and a restructured student services area. If you are at all interested, please email me directly: Moore_Andrew@svvsd.org
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making Lyons Elementary a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. Enjoy the holiday season!
